Lent begins on Tuesday 25th February which is more commonly known as Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day!!! At St. Peter’s we have pancakes at The Rectory from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. where old and young gather to eat, you guessed it, lots of pancakes.
On Wednesday 26th February at 11:30 a.m. at our Midweek Eucharist in The Lady Chapel we will also have the opportunity for imposition of ashes. This is where those who want receive the sign of the cross on their forehead from the ashes of last Easter’s Palm Crosses. The theme of the service will be Beauty for Ashes (Isaiah 61:1-3).
Starting at mid-day there will be 24 hours of prayer in the prayer room. Please contact Nicky A. or Myfanwy for more details of how to get involved. Prayer can be the difference that makes the difference.
This year, we will also be marking the beginning of Lent with a Quiet Day on Friday 6th March led by Eileen Davis, Licensed Lay Minister. The day will start at 9:00 a.m. and finish at 2:00 p.m. The cost for the day will be £25 and places are limited. If you are interested in joining us please call Teresa Holden on 07781 414533.
On Tuesday 14th April, our interesting evening at 7:00 p.m., will be led by the Rev’d Dr Eric Gaudion who will be sharing from his own experience of considerable physical pain and suffering. His talk will be based upon his book “Through the Storms” which will also be available for sale.
