St. Peter’s Church has wonderful acoustics and recent concerts have been given by choirs, solo voice, organ, piano and cello. In true St. Peter’s spirit, concerts are sociable and joyous events, well supported and often accompanied by nibbles and wine

Summer evening picnic concerts

We would love more picnic concerts. Previous performances have involved folk bands, a light music orchestra, wind bands and jazz bands and solo singers.

If you are interested in performing at St. Peter’s please do contact us.

Bells 🔔

Pictured above are the oldest of our bells.

The St. Pierre du Bois "ring of bells" consist of 10 bells. They are the largest set in the Channel Islands.

We have a team of ringers who practice on Saturdays 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. with Service ringing between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. Our ringers also ring for weddings, Liberation Day and Royal Occasions.

Anyone wishing to learn to ring is most welcome! Please contact Phil Le Conte, Tower Captain, 259240 (07781 122 622) , or Anne Dorey, Secretary 257069 (07781 455 654).

The peal of bells originally consisted of three bells. The oldest dated from 1654, the next from 1681 and the youngest form 1828. The 1654 bell bears the Latin inscription "Melior vere non est Campana quam me" (Verily there is no sweeter bell then me). The second bell confirms this "Melio vere non est Campana quam ers" (Verily there is no sweeter bell than he). However despite these bold inscriptions the bells could not be tuned to ring together!

Assisted by the Central Council of Church Bell ringers a suitable ring of ten bells, originally installed in St. Catherine's at Feltham in Middlesex, was found and brought to Guernsey in time to ring for the 40th Anniversary of Liberation Day in May 1985. They have been ringing merrily ever since and we believe that there is no sweeter peal of bells then these in Guernsey.

The Church Band, fondly nicknamed 'St. Peter’s Philharmonic', has been in existence for around 35 years and provides music for the monthly Family Service and the enormously popular 'Christingle' service. It was started by Mary and Martin Cordall and utilises the talents of instrumentalists of all ages and different standards. Although made up of predominately orchestral instruments, over the years music has been played by a diverse selection including glockenspiel and mouth organ.

Any musician who would like to play with the band should contact Martin Cordall
