<p>We take seriously our responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults entrusted to our care and have a Safeguarding Officer and Safeguarding Policy that we work to.</p>
<ul>
<li>We aim to provide a safe and caring environment for all we come into contact with particularly children, young people and vulnerable adults.</li>
<li>We are committed to the implementation of the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.holytrinity.org.gg/_data/site/210/pg/150/ParishSafeguardingHandbookMarch2019.pdf"><strong>Parish Safeguarding Handbook&nbsp; Policy&nbsp;</strong></a>and the relevant statutory legislation and guidance for the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.</li>
<li>We will ensure that all those who are authorised to work with vulnerable groups are appointed according to diocesan safer recruitment guidelines. We will exercise proper care in selection, appointment, training and support including the use of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).</li>
<li>We will respond without delay to concerns or allegations that a child or vulnerable adult may have been harmed, cooperating with the police and social services in any investigation.</li>
<li>We will challenge any abuse of power by anyone in authority.</li>
<li>We will have internal processes in place to support proper reporting of concerns, and ensure that staff and volunteers are aware of what to do if they have a concern.</li>
<li>We will seek to offer pastoral care and support to anyone who has suffered abuse, developing with them appropriate pastoral support.</li>
<li>We recognise that safeguarding is the responsibility of the whole church<em>.</em></li>
</ul>
<p>Our Safeguarding Officer, Teresa Holden (07781 414533)&nbsp;is the first person to speak to if you have any concerns around the welfare of a child or adult with vulnerability.</p>

<h3>Salisbury Diocesan Safeguarding Advisers</h3>
<p>In ensuring high standards of practice in safeguarding, we are supported by the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.salisbury.anglican.org/parishes/safeguarding" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Diocese of Salisbury's safeguarding team</a>, who work closely with the&nbsp;<a href="http://www.guernsey.police.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Guernsey Police</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.gov.gg/article/120912/Child-Protection" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">specialist staff</a>&nbsp;of the States of Guernsey Committee&nbsp;for Health and Social Care.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Safeguarding Advisers are qualified and experienced social care practitioners who can provide advice and guidance to parishes and others in the diocese on child and adult protection. They can offer advice, discuss any protection matters and clarify anything in the National Guidelines. They are always ready to work with you to plan a detailed response to any&nbsp; protection issue, taking into account all aspects of your particular situation. Please do not hesitate to contact them; they are always very ready to help.</p>
<p><strong>Jem Carter</strong>&nbsp;has lead responsibility for the Deanery of Guernsey and will have general oversight on all matters relating to the Island. In his absence you should speak to&nbsp;<strong>Suzy Futcher</strong>, who will have full access to relevant safeguarding records and will also provide advice in line with the handbook about any safeguarding incident or query.</p>

<description><![CDATA[<h6 style="text-align: left;">&nbsp;St. Peter's Church is open during daylight hours for visitors or those wanting to spend some time in quiet reflection.&nbsp;</h6>
<h6>Our lovely pop-up church cafe is open Mondays 9:30 - 11:30 and Thursdays 2:30-4:30 and you are particularly welcome to drop in at these times. We serve tea, coffee and other hot drinks along with a range of cakes and always a friendly chat.</h6>
<h6>On Mondays we have a Story and Rhyme Time for young children and their carers from 9:30a.m. Afterwards children play and adults recuperate with a cup of tea or coffee. Those just wanting to pop in for morning coffee are most welcome too!</h6>
<h6>The Thursday cafe is a hive of activity and it's always great to see all our regulars and new faces too. We have several special interest tables so you can meet to chat in Guernsey French.&nbsp; Learn all the cryptic crossword tips from Peter.&nbsp; Join our group to knit and crochet squares to make blankets for Tumiani and other charities.&nbsp;</h6>

<h3 class="border-none" style="text-align: left;">Sunday 10am Service&nbsp;</h3>
<p style="text-align: left;">Children of all ages are most welcome at St Peter's.&nbsp; They can stay in with parents,&nbsp; do colouring in or go out to prayer room for age-appropriate activities.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Family Service</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Every 3rd Sunday of the month St Peter&rsquo;s holds a Family Service at 10am. Children and families are welcome &ndash; there is an all-age band and new members are always welcome.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Bacon Rolls are a served from 9:30 am.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">Caf&eacute; Story &amp; rhyme</h3>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Mondays</strong> 9:30 - 11.30:-</p>
<p>Pre-schoolers and their carers are very welcome to join us every Monday during term time for our story and rhyme time. We start at 9:30 for stories and then some rhymes and singing, followed by a restorative cup of coffee from our wonderful cafe and a chat while the children play.</p>
<p>Afterwards, you can head up to Styx Community Centre for a little play at the playground before lunch and naps. A lovely, gentle start to the week</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">All Youth in school years 8-11 are welcome to join us for music, games and more.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: left;">Special Events</h3>
<p style="text-align: left;">At all our events throughout the year, from our annual summer BBQ to the ever-popular Christingle Service on Christmas Eve, we love to ensure that children are catered for in the life of the church.&nbsp;St Peter&rsquo;s is a place of Hospitality, Hope &amp; Humour and we love a good party!</p>
